Champagne vs. Prosecco - What is the Difference?
In case you didn't know and were curious, what is the difference between champagne and prosecco? In 1693, Dom Perignon produced the first sparkling version of champagne. Later, in 1868, Carpene Malvolti produced the first sparkling version of prosecco. I have heard this question being asked a few times, both are similar and great for mimosas, or alone. Champagne and prosecco are originated in different places, and the price difference in each is due to the way each is produced. Champagne is produced using a traditional method, which is more costly. Meanwhile, prosecco is produced using a more affordable method inside pressurized tanks. Cava, another similar and sparkling white wine originates in Spain.
